Sonja M. Shah

Attorney

Passionate and Dedicated Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Bankruptcy Attorney, serving Indianapolis and Central Indiana.

Attorney Sonja M. Shah has worked in the Indianapolis criminal law community for several years, dedicating her career to litigation and helping others. Her passion for justice and her devotion to solving complex legal problems separates her from other Indianapolis lawyers who focus more on the paycheck than assisting clients with obtaining the results they want. Where other local lawyers use aggression and courtroom theatrics to try to trick clients into believing they are receiving high-quality representation, Sonja M. Shah uses transparency and communication to keep clients fully informed and updated and therefore confident in her abilities.

Sonja M. Shah is a lifetime Indiana resident, growing up in Greenwood, Indiana and graduating from Center Grove High School in 2006. She then attended Indiana University in Bloomington, where she studied political science. She received her Bachelor of Arts in 2010. After graduating college, she began as a Bailiff with the Marion County Superior Court, Criminal Division No. 18. While with the court, she got a first-hand look into criminal trials and the logic and reasoning of seasoned judges. She handled the court docket, prepared case jackets for the judge, and developed relationships with local prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges. This inspired her to attend law school at Indiana University in Indianapolis. While in law school, she interned as a Certified Legal Intern with the Marion County Public Defender Agency in 2014. In addition, she worked with Eskew Law, LLC as a law clerk from 2012 to 2015. During her time with Eskew Law, LLC, she researched case law, drafted motions, conducted intake interviews with potential criminal defense and family law clients, and maintained case jackets for the office.
She passed the Indiana bar exam in 2015 and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. She joined Eskew Law, LLC as a full-time Associate Attorney in May 2015 after becoming a licensed lawyer. 100% of her legal practice is devoted to litigation.
